For Anti Bullying Week

Prose for Thought

Linking up with Prose for Thought over at Victoria's Blog - she's very much worth a visit this week!

Because it Ends Here
Say what you want without being rude
Say what you'd like for I am not food

My energy is not here as fruit for you to pick
Neither does my lack of dictionary make me thick

Spin your yarns with thesaurus in hand,
it doesn't mean your thoughts are any more grand.

In fact you have shown your true colours for all to see,
So now I want to put this all behind me

Life was better before I encountered you all
A battle gathered ground and made a snow ball

But just like snow, the ice has thawed
so now I remain, just me and the Lord.

I hand over the bitterness the shock and the rage,
and know that he'll find me a brand new page.

A new page, a new chapter, to forget the last,
For me now this'll be all in the past.

I don't want to battle with you or with men,
It's a fruitless war again and again.

Love is where it's at and that's where it'll stay
Until you get that, for you I will pray.

Be the change you want to see in the world,
That's so much better than words hurled!

  1. "be the change you want to see in the world" So true! We all need to treat others as we want to be treated and do what we can to stop bullying. As a mother it terrifies me that kids can be so cruel. I hope you can put your bad experience behind you.

  2. Aw - I agree that it is our responsibility to tackle and prevent bullying. Like Maddy, I am petrified that kids can behave like that and that my wee boy could one day be a target.

  5. You said it: love and prayer really is the very best we can do in this situation

  6. This is great, very powerful, and my very favourite thing is the title. 'Because it ends here' - there's such strength in that x

  7. This is so powerful, such great words. I continue to draw my inspiration from all the other linkers on Prose for Thought, which includes you Liska - you always write a great poem. Be ready for more tears tomorrow when I share Izzy's teacher's poem. Thank you for linking to Prose for Thought xx
