Sometimes It Snows in April - and it DID in 2013 - 4th April 2013

one week

Sometimes it snows in April
And this year it did just that

We wondered where Spring was
It was the theme of many a chat

In Ireland cattle were starving
Grass grows if the sun shines

People who could afford it
were off to sunnier climbs

Sometimes it snows in April
It was a day I'll never forget

off to do some photocopying
for a day in court I'll soon get.

Our children have had more days in
when they should have been outside

But Summer's round the corner
So Sun start shining, not a time to hide

We've been patient while we've waited
It's been a source of talk

But Spring and Summer are meant to be
A time to get outside and walk

Don't worry Spring
You're forgiven

We don't hold grudges round here

But make sure it's the last time
We don't want a repeat next year!

Written by me, in the last 15 minutes.

An off the cuff job inspired by Older Mum's one week SPRING linky, which can be found here: #OneWeek Spring

    1. I've spent the whole day wondering what you mean by that?
Snow makes you smile? or something I said? ;-)

  2. The best poems are spontaneous. Loving the spring poems in the Linky x.

  3. Well done you...took me ages to write my little post and I was not even being poetic! Prefer the pictures really :) Great poem and unfortunately very true!

    1. My husband used to act (Shakespeare) and he says it "does not scan"... meaning the rhythm is all off.
I was sad when he said it but (1) I like it and (2) I wrote it in 15 minutes FFS!

  4. I love the way you can tell that a whole heap of stories lie between the chosen words.
