Anyone who knows me will know that my last two Mother's Days have been disastrous. No card, no breakfast in bed, no flowers, nada.
I am praying for the day when Aaron is old enough to take care of it all himself.
I DO get a card that the nursery makes with him though - thank God.
So Mother's Day for me, is always about treasuring my time as a Mother and ensuring that I enjoy, consciously, every moment of that day with him, in a present way.
P&G have made a video about The Mummy Effect which shows how our little ones are grateful for all that we do, even the little things we take for granted. It's worth a watch just for the cute children alone.
Hey, I know it is a little sexist towards the MUM, but hey, it is MOTHER'S DAY, let us have the credit for this week, or day, yeah?!?!?!
Hey, I know it is a little sexist towards the MUM, but hey, it is MOTHER'S DAY, let us have the credit for this week, or day, yeah?!?!?!
So, as it says at the end of the video, "that's the power of the Every Day Effect", so make sure you love your Mum everyday. For me, Mother's Day is as much about MY MUM, as it is about me being a MUM.
My Mum knows it's Mother's Day, whereas at two and a half (I'll have to stop saying that, as he is three in June) Aaron doesn't know what Mother's Day is.
Maybe this year Daddy will help him understand... Is that a pink pig I see flying across the sky.
At the age of 40 I feel as close to my Mum as ever. She has helped me through a tough few months, and despite being in Ireland we talk on the phone every day. Mums are for life, not just for Mother's Day.
So what are YOUR plans for Mother's Day?

ReplyDeleteI'm with you on this one, all I ever get is the cards my son makes at school, which I strongly suspect have never been made by him, or at least not without the teacher's help. My DH would not even know what the Mother's day is, and never bothers with it.
ReplyDeleteI'll probably bake us a cake.
I have nothing planned for Mother's Day. We sometimes go out for a walk on the beach.

ReplyDeleteI'm hoping its dry so we can all go to the park. What I'm really hoping is that hubby will cook one of his lush roasts
ReplyDeleteNothing special planned like going out for lunch, which isn't really my thing! Hoping for a day of being spoilt though, like breakfast in bed & a nice card from the kids!!
ReplyDeleteForgot to add I'm @Ellen5W on Twitter
ReplyDeleteFor the first time I won't be seeing my son or mum. I will be having lunch out in Cardiff as its my birthday that weekend and seeing my mum and son when I come back. I will spoil my mum when I see her on Tuesday and hoping my son will buy me a little pressie and card

I have no idea. I just know that I sent my hubby out with the smalls last Friday to get me a card. And as it's Sunday, I'll be cooking the Sunday Roast. Plus it's my mother-in-laws birthday and I'm sure we'l call round to wish her a happy birthday.
ReplyDeleteMy Mummy –
ReplyDeleteI came into the world, just last year,
With great joy and many a tear.
For eight months now, I have grown
With many a cry, and a little moan.
I have thrown my food in every direction.
While Mummy looks for any protection.
My collection of nappies is growing fast.
But will my hobby ever last?
I sleep at any time I choose.
When I awake, Mum’s having a snooze!
She has large bags under her eyes,
Looking after me, it’s no surprise!
My mummy has seen this every day,
Yet her love has never gone astray.
I wish I could repay her everlasting love.
Maybe ‘A surprise family meal’ can answer the above?
Lots of Love
Baby Kirsty Dunlop
