You Make Me Smile

You make me smile

I have written before about "community".

I have lived where I do, for 11 years, but I spent it sleeping (in the rat race) until I went on maternity.

You only really get to know your community when you spend time in it.  Real time, not sleep walking.

Just coming home from the City to lay your head there, before you charge for the train again the next morning, is not living.

Today I discovered a group of people that literally made me smile, so I thought I would join this post up with The Mummy Adventure.  She is doing a linky called "You Make Me Smile".

Anyway, when the left hand side of this underpass was painted presumably the locals thought the council did it, but when the right hand side was done, today, I happened to spot the team in action and grabbed a photo.

I was so shocked that they are here from CANADA and were choosing to spend the hottest day of the year so far in overalls, as volunteer work for the church!  Oasis church to be precise.

Look:

They clearly started work on the underpass long before, and this today is just the final icing on the cake.

So, if you see good work in your community, don't always assume the council were at work while you were.  It may be that while you were busy at work, other people (angels) were also busy.

And to think, they travelled from Canada.  I was literally dumbstruck when I spotted them and just had to ask them what they were up to.

What have you seen that's humbled you?

I hope they get to enjoy the Olympics while they are here, and I hope the locals are grateful for their brighter cleaner environment.

See, bringing in light isn't just about God and worship, it is also about selfless service, to your fellow man.
