I had to Google the dictionary definition of epiphany as I had one today AFTER having spent the morning feeling broken (but I will come back to that at the end):
The 1st few Googled definition results were biblical but then I came across my current understanding of the word...
Definition: A sudden realization about the nature or meaning of something. An epiphany can often come about due to some experience that may trigger the sudden realization.

So, what happened? Well further to my post yesterday about coming back from 10 days in Ireland with Aaron, to a FILTHY sink, washing up, mouldy bread and NO milk, today there have been more things to GET MY GOAT! Yesterday resulted in me popping out on foot with buggy and Aaron to get basics, which totted up £30. All things that should have been in for our return, if our return was intended to be welcoming!
Today, after dropping Aaron at 9 a.m. instead of 8 a.m. (we had a lie in and a 12 hour sleep after a 5 a.m. start for our early flight home yesterday), I decided to tackle the washing up, and I was at it from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. as I was scrubbing the cooker etc as well.
Then finally at 2 p.m. I updated my CV and applied for ONE job, but then I was back to washing, hannging on line, washing, hanging on line, washing, hanging on line, etc... As my Mum smokes, even clothes that weren't worn needed washing as EVERYTHING smelled like an ashtray so today has been laundry day for me, like it or lump it, but each time I have popped to the washing line I have enjoyed the fresh air (forgive the unintended pun).
Anyway, one of the things that smelled the worst was Aaron's nappy changing bag so that was emptied and put in the washing machine. It was cathartic as that has not been done in a year.
I filled a carrier bag with the amount of toot that was in there!
Anyway, while I was hanging it on the line, I was thinking about Vlogging and how maybe I should have a tag line that I put on any You Tube videos that are me speaking. First I thought of New Mum Online Speaks Out but then that sounded too much like the adorable HMS.
Then it suddenly dawned on me to examine MY name more closely and I couldn't help but notice the NEW in New Mum Online, so I have decided that I am going to make myself new:
- New weight!
- New look!
- New housekeeping/cleaning disciplines/routines!
- New start!
- New outlook!
- New me!
- New focus!
- New energy!
- New bounce!
- New vigour!
- New ideas!
So here is a picture of the washed nappy changing back that gave me my EPIPHANY. May I always remember this day when I decided that NOTHING from now on will EVER drag me down.
I am moving onwards and upwards - watch this space.
Oh and one last MOAN before I become the new me... When I did the washing up I came across the below two fragments, both from blue plastic bowls (Aaron's) that my husband had broken (hence the blog post title) while we'd been away. One of them is part of a set (a bowl, plate and cup set) that has sentimental value as it was from his Godmother for his baptism.
He'd clearly thrown the broken bowls away but due to the mess (Ggggrrr) he had not hidden noticed these two, for some reason, identically sized bits!
I asked him earlier how they broke and he had no idea (more GGgggrrrr) so said it must have been as a result of him THROWING cutlery into the sink (that landed on them). Sorry but that would just cause the cutlery to bounce off the bowls.
The only thing I can think of is he must have stood on them. How else do you break plastic bowls, in such a way that they fragment?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
So he stood in the sink to look out the window....? And knows I would freak, so won't admit it, or what on earth happened?!?!?!?
Anyway I was too angry to even look at him today, but I turned the anger inwards and felt broken on the inside, but no, not any longer....
New me, new start, and bloody new man if he continues like this!
I don't really mean that last sentence but honestly!
Anyway I will be full of good vibes from now on, so what can I say to end on a positive note?
Blimey oh riley the Google search results if you google "new start" are less than inspiring to say the least!
"New me" brings up things that are a little more inspiring, like this, amongst others... He did so well with his weight loss journey that he became an avid runner and moved house to this blog.
I'm so glad you turned it all around even though you have every tight to be furious with what you came home to. Good luck with the New
ReplyDeleteGood luck from me too with the New, perhaps we can support each other in this journey as I too am out to try and find a new me which I hope will have a lot of the old me who seems to have upped sticks and moved out a long time ago but I too am fed up of being down trodden and trying to do something about it x
