Merry Christmas Aaron,
You'll make this Christmas real
As the day is nearly upon us,
It's for you I really feel
A trip to the shop for presents,
for all the people on my list...
Became a trip for Aaron
things for him I could not resist.
The shops then closed,
The list not ticked.
Gifts that were listed
had not been picked.
When a Mum has her first born,
He's such a joy in her heart
He takes over her life
Christmas... where do you start.
The snow's been pretty,
The heating's been warm.
Inside we've stayed
No pavements we've worn.
As a result,
less presents we've bought,
But the real meaning of Christmas
to me it has taught.
When Jesus was born,
he was a gift in himself.
So Aaron you are
My Santa
My Elf.

Oh you've made me cry! Not only because it is such a beautiful poem but also because you've reminded me of our first Christmas. I bought his present in September and spent the following three months buying little bits here and there. I vividly remember decorating the tree with him watching, fascinated by the lights and sparkly baubles with a schmaltzy Christmas movie on Movies 24 playing in the background. It is a very special time of year, thanks for reminding me of a very happy memory!
